This policy explains what personal information Terra Rescues collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as we need to run a surplus-food marketplace.

Payment card details are collected and stored by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment, not your card number.

1.Information we collect

You give us

Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider).
Shopper preferences — dietary preferences and allergens you choose to save so we can flag bags that don't fit. You may consider some of this health-related; you provide it voluntarily and can remove it anytime.
Store details — store name, pickup address, and category, shown to Shoppers on your listings.
Content — listings you create and photos of food you upload.

Collected automatically

Usage & device data — basic app/site interactions and technical logs used to operate and secure the service.

We do not collect

Precise location. The service does not track your GPS location.
Full card numbers. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never receive or store your complete card details.

2.How we use it

Create and manage your account and provide the marketplace.
Show relevant listings and flag bags that conflict with your saved diet/allergen preferences.
Process reservations, pickup codes, and payments, and send receipts and service notifications.
Send freshness reminders if you turn them on (these are scheduled on your device).
Keep the service safe, prevent abuse, and comply with law.

3.AI processing

Some features use a third-party AI provider (Anthropic). When a Store uses "snap-to-list," the photo or text of the shelf is sent to the AI to extract items. When freshness or recipes are generated, the item list is sent to the AI. We send only what the feature needs and do not include your name or contact details in these requests.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Terra Rescues, and only as needed:

Supabase — database, authentication, and photo storage hosting.
Stripe — payment processing and Store identity/business verification.
Anthropic — the AI features described above.
Resend — sending transactional emails such as receipts.
Other users, as needed for a transaction — a Store sees the order and pickup code for bags reserved from it; Shoppers see a Store's name and pickup address.
Legal — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the platform.

5.How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete your account (see below).

6.Your rights & choices

Access, correct, or delete your account information.
Update or remove your diet/allergen preferences at any time in the app.
Turn freshness reminders on or off, and control notification permission in your device settings.
Depending on where you live (e.g. EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights such as data portability or to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise them.

7.Security

We use reputable providers and access controls (including row-level security on our database) to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and to limit what we collect.

8.Children

Terra Rescues is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9.Cookies

Our website uses only the cookies/local storage needed to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or analytics.

10.Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date and, where appropriate, additional notice.
